Newspaper reports give the final score as 5 goals and 2 disputed goals to nil in Wrexham's favour. However, a Mr. Stanley Smith of Mold Cricket Club wrote to the Wrexham Advertiser the following week advising: 'Now I fail to see, when there are umpires, who are supposed to be the arbiters of all disputes that may occur in a match, how there can possibly be such a thing as a disputed goal - it is either a goal or it is nothing according to the decision of the umpire. The state of the game as agreed between the respective captains was 4 goals and 3 disallowed, to nothing.'
